Scuba dive in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea! This tour ( SCUBA DIVING ) allows you to see amazing sights that are unique to this part of the world. Watch the silvery scales of fish catch the filtered light from the sun as you see first-hand the beauty of the coral reefs in the oceanic depths. This trip is perfect for those who aren’t afraid to explore!
These exciting dives are performed directly from the coast, where immediately you can find all kinds of coral: brain coral leaves, star corals, sea fans, and many species of fish can be discovered in the depths of the sea. About 100 m from the coast, discover another major attraction: the steep wall with depths up to 40 m where there are sponges, gorgonians and large coral. This diving experience is recommended for serious divers and includes a specialized English- or French-speaking tour guide – yours for the entire day!
With two dives per day in each location, you can plan when and where you want to dive. The divers’ plan will be discussed with the group at each location and transportation is available to each of the diving points (a special and typical bus called La Guarandinga is used to transport the divers). Included with the trip is beautiful accommodation in Hotel Playa Larga, and of course lunch and dinner. Discover the magical itinerary below:
Hotel Playa Larga: Accommodation and Meeting
When you arrive at the Varadero airport, you will be greeted by an EcoCuba Pro French- or English- speaking tour guide, ready and willing to introduce you to the magic of Cuba! Your guide will take you to the Hotel Playa Larga in Cienaga de Zapata. Once you’ve arrived and
checked in, it will be time to meet with the diving instructor about the dive plans! Then it’s off to dinner and some time to relax and unwind before your first day of diving.
Hotel Playa Larga: Diving Journey
Each day you dive, you’ll be sure to see something new. Whether it’s a rare tropical fish, any kind of sea mammal, or wild sea birds, you’ll have photos to last a lifetime – don’t forget a waterproof camera to capture your finds! You’ll learn each day about the unique wildlife that populates the shores of Cuba and the outlying ocean. You’ll come back an expert in Cuban sea life, for sure!
While each day is unique in terms of where the dives are located and what wonderful coral and fish you will see, you can expect the same itinerary to keep you on track with your adventure and let you worry about finding that rare coral reef without wondering what’s next! After breakfast, and a dive meeting to form the plan for the day, you will go to one of four locations, or dive centres. You will do two dives per day, have lunch at the restaurant in between your forays into the water, and then return to the hotel for dinner and a rest. The four diving centres are as follows:
This destination has 4 diving centres:
- Playa Girón: famous for its waving palms and white sand beaches, you’ll see local culture and beautiful flora and fauna in this paradise location.
- Playa Larga: Home to a natural swimming hole where you can see all kinds of rare tropical fish! Across the way in the Bay of Pigs, swim and dive in the turquoise-blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.
- Caleta Buena: Located at the entrance of the Bay of Pigs, Caleta Buena is a translucent protected cove with beautiful rock landscapes and abundant oceanic life. If you’re searching for a truly rare species, chances are you may find it here!
- Punta Perdiz: Sea whips and corals sprinkle the seabed, and a large number of Caribbean fish, including butterflyfish and angelfish, live in the extensive coral reef.
Each of these places has a unique culture and feel, so you’ll never see the same thing twice!
Hotel Playa Giron: Tour in Montemar Park.
Get ready for a day of adventure! After breakfast, you will head for a tour in Montemar Park, a fantastic ecotouristic area within Ciénaga de Zapata. Your first stop will be the Fiesta Campesina farm. Here, you’ll discover and enjoy the impressive flora and fauna sprinkled around the grounds. Visit the zoo and see unique animals from around the world!
Next, you’ll ride the bus to La Boca, where you’ll enjoy a lunch of local favourites and exotic treats, then wander the quaint shops for that perfect souvenir to bring home. Follow up lunch with an exciting motorboat ride through La Laguna del Tesoro, or the treasure lagoon! This beautiful place is accessible only by boat. You’ll discover that on the other side of the lake, there’s a tourist resort named Villa Guamá, built to resemble a Taíno village on a dozen small islands. Discover how the indigenous people of Cuban live! You’ll then return to La Boca to visit the Crocodile Farm and grab a quick bite to refresh yourself. After all this sightseeing and excitement, travel to your hotel to relax and unwind until dinner time and enjoy a quiet evening to yourself.
Departure.
While leaving this beautiful land will be tough, you’ll at least get a few moments to reflect and remember your time here as you eat breakfast and relax until it’s time to go to the airport. You won’t just be bringing souvenirs home – you’ll also be bringing home many memories of your wonderful trip here.
